These hand illustrated designs by Francine founder Sofie Birkin draw inspiration from a 1695 French book of crown and helmet designs by Charles Mavelot. The book’s subtitle suggests its usefulness to "painters, sculptors, engravers, goldsmiths, weavers, embroiderers and others", so hopefully Mr Mavelot would approve (or declare my trusty Cricut a tool of the devil). The center of each cartouche is left blank, ready to be filled with the gleaming gold initial of the wearer. The crowns come beautifully packaged, ready for gifting, and are substantial enough to survive through champagne toasts, enthusiastic revelry, or crafting with your best mates on a Thursday evening.
Each set contains:
Five designs, printed on thick premium cardstock. The back is printed with a custom Francine stripe and hand stamped logo, for impeccable looks from every angle.
A pack of five-and-a-spare comfortable USA-made metallic green fabric covered elastic bands for easy wearability.
Two sheets of custom designed gold vinyl initials (if you very much need more of a specific initial, reach out and I’ll see what I can do).
Size: Approx 7.5 x 5.5”, elastic is 13”. These are one-size-fits-most for adult heads, but may be too large for children.
